All About Me

In life, what I value the most is authenticity. This to me means showing up as my most authentic self. The best way to show that is by sharing a little about who I am, what I care about, what I enjoy doing, and how I got into carpentry. I am an individual who prides herself on always being open and honest. I always encourage people to ask me questions, and I never fail to ask probably too many questions myself.

I grew up in Seattle, living in Wallingford until elementary school, moving to the Magnuson area. After years of sports, music, and social events, I am familiar with many of the Seattle areas and neighborhoods. I was adopted from China as a baby, and love that I get to call Seattle my home. I am very lucky to have gotten to grow up in such a beautiful city and am excited to share all of my favorite places. I am a huge foodie and have spent my whole life exploring different restaurants in the city and of course, have my favorites. However, I am also excited to continue trying new ones as the city grows. Seattle is full of so many amazing restaurants, it would be impossible to go to them all (so please let me know your recommendations!) Outside of food, I have my favorite parks, trails, and other spots to spend time with friends all across the city. Feel free to ask me for any recommendations on anything!

It was wonderful growing up and learning in the Seattle public school system, which prepared me for my further education. So if you are a parent or aspiring parent, I can definitely answer questions about the public schools from first- hand experience. There, I made the best friends anyone could ask for. After high school, I decided to branch out and went to the Midwest for my bachelor’s degree. I graduated from Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota in 2022, where I ran track and field while getting a diverse and interesting education.

Some of my hobbies include crafting, hiking, playing sports, cooking, baking, painting, gardening, and, of course, eating! As someone with ADHD, I love to learn skills and try out new things, constantly seeking to challenge myself. My most recent hyperfixation has been my sourdough starter, which I named Phil after the show Somebody Feed Phil. Sourdough is much more versatile and complex than I realized until I started researching and ‘feeding’ my own! I am someone who wants to do things the right way or at least be informed about what I am doing before getting started. I researched absolutely everything; what materials you needed to even various flour types to grow the best starter. I could go on and on about my bread and all the fun things I have made so far, so expect a sourdough-specific blog post soon!

I have had my fair share of negative interactions with real estate agents in the past, and the constant pitches make me feel uncomfortable. Honestly, after being in the industry for a few months, I was worried if I was the right kind of person for the job. I don’t like how disingenuous many of the tasks you are advised to do can be. Such as, calling every person you know to strengthen your already existing relationships so that people will use you as their agent. While I do check in with my friends, I want to have meaningful relationships with them, not just see them as future clients. After trying to force myself into a mold because it was what I thought would be the right fit for me, I changed directions and really embraced the building side of homes. After finishing my residential construction course, I found a new excitement about work that I felt in previous service jobs, but not in real estate. I love to work with my hands and have a true sense of accomplishment from doing physical tasks. I have been working as a carpenter on a small team since and am loving it. I will continue to learn and grow, and share with you along the way.
